The surge in articles on technological advances such as driverless cars is fascinating, equally the talk of smartphone Apps, journey planners and so forth continues relentlessly. Additionally I hear talk of connected spaces, shared spaces and new ways of working. I am though yet to read anything that talks about the user - the poor old user.
In this short opening blog I have a very simple plea. Just like we all need to be educated on the use of anything new let's please not forget the principles of behaviour change.
Yes there swathes of users already adopting these new practices. There are also those that no matter what will never adjust, and never want to adjust, to these new practices. Finally there are those (malcontent) who with the right encouragement and support will gladly adopt these new behaviours.
So, in parallel with the testing and trialling of these new technologies please let's also test new behaviour change, marketing communication, solutions to understand which are best likely to support the transition.
